After a successful career at the karting level and in Legend Cars series, Mike Czaja is making the move to a stage that every drivers dreams about; NASCAR. Returning from Charlotte, North Carolina, after having a very successful test session, Czaja now has an opportunity to race with a NASCAR team. Having to deal with slick tires, weight transfer, and almost 600hp, Czaja had a lot to adjust to, jumping from a car with less than a quarter the power. Having the natural ability to cope quickly with those changes, Mike proved himself able to compete at this level of racing.
His born gift gives him that advantage, but years of experience in different areas of motorsports made a large impact on Czaja’s history in racing. Karting and especially legends cars, has groomed him into the driver he is today, and as a result he will now be able to show his talent at the NASCAR level. Racing started for Mike back in 2003, where he entered into the EDKRA (Edmonton District Karting Association). In 2005, moving into one of the top Provincial series, Mike scored multiple wins and podium finishes. One year later, after suffering from a bad crash, Mike bounced back, placing top 10 in his first ever national event. The following season, Czaja scored several victories and multiple podium finishes, running in the Senior Rotax Class. In doing so, Mike took the Alberta Rotax Max Championship, becoming the youngest champion for Alberta Senior Rotax in its history. Making the leap into Legends cars, Mike made his first A-main (Final Race) in his very first start in legends cars against 30 series drivers. Mike stayed in Legends for 3 seasons, taking top 3 in the series consistently every season.
Having the opportunity to test with Lafferty Motorsports in North Carolina, it is now time for Czaja to make the leap into the world of NASCAR. “The opportunity I have been given is one in a million. With the support of my family, friends, sponsors, I am confident that my dream is going to become a reality. I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen.”
