Get behind the wheel, and behind the scenes of Team MCR
When its 30+ outside and 50+ inside of the racecar, you have to be in shape. Racing is a very physically demanding sport. Most people dont realize how much a person goes through in a racecar.
People think its just gas, brake, turn. We do those 3 things but ontop of having to do that we have to deal with all sorts of things. Things like the tempurature, other drivers, staying focused, dehydration, the tower in our headphones, and most of all, G forces.
GForces in a racecar
A racecar driver can experiance up to 5-6 x their own body weight when going through a corner. the most you can experiance the most intencified rolercoaster for example is 2-3x your own body weight. Try doing that while going 3 wide at 100mph.
Getting in shape and keeping hydrated will certainly help because you obviously don’t want to fall out of the seat because you’re tired or you’re worn out. It’s even more important during the hot summer months where mental and physical toughness are almost as important as horsepower and handling.
Now swiming every day and eating more fruit then chips, i can certainly feal a difference. Not only will i be able to go out onto the track and perform better, i wont get out of the car and need to drink 30 bottles of water.
Whats in store for MCR in 2010.
The 2010 season is fast aproaching and setting goals now is what needs to be done.
Knowing how strong we ended the season in 2009, we will be pushing the car out of the trailer with the same mind set. "Were here to win". As a rookie last year my goals were not set high at all, but as the season went on I realized that i had to raise my goal set to the next level
Seeing as how I started the season, with the mind set to just go out and finish races, and ended up finishing the season contending for the win, i can only think that if i had started with high expectations of myself, could i have a championship trophy in my hand?
MCR wont make that mistake this season in 2010. We show up at the track to win. nothing else.
"I think that the workouts will definitely helped me become stronger, but the thing I was missing the most was more in my diet and understanding my body type"
